Because of limited seating and our desire to be mindful of necessary precautions during the current
pandemic we are encouraging families to celebrate the season of Christmas a bit differently this year. Especially on Christmas Eve/Day we are asking families to consider gathering and joining the live stream Mass in lieu of attending before engaging in your meal and other family holiday traditions. Although we are not able to accommodate large “in church” gatherings at Christmas Eve consider attending a Mass during the Season of Christmas instead.
Like Advent, Christmas is a season! The season of Christmas begins with December 25th and ends with the Baptism of the Lord, on January 10th. Also recall, Catholics are still dispensed from the obligation to celebrate the solemnities within Mass. Note the Christmas schedule below and consider attending a Mass within the “Octave” (the first 8 days) of Christmas. Depending on your situation, it may even be prudent to avoid liturgical celebrations altogether.
Christmas liturgies at the Cathedral will be live streamed on our website here. Additionally, Archbishop Jackels will celebrate Mass which can be viewed by visiting dbqarch.org/live-broadcasts.
