Pastoral Care

Hospital Visitation

Parishioners of St. Raphael and St. Patrick are scheduled for visits 5 days a week and on weekends as requested. The visits are an opportunity for prayer, dialogue, and parish connection. Parishioners receiving medical care outside of Dubuque or are admitted through the emergency room are asked to notify the parish.

Nursing Home and Assisted Living Facility Visitation

Parish pastoral staff members and volunteers make regular visits to all parishioners in assisted care.

Homebound Visitation

Many parishioners are not able to attend Mass and parish activities due to age or illness. Maintaining connections is very important. Homebound visits often include the reception of Holy Communion.

Card Ministry

Our parishes send out beautiful, hand made, cards for our new parents, golden anniversary couples and beyond, patients recently released from the hospital, senior birthday greetings and sympathy cards. These cards are sent by parish volunteers. For more information on card ministry please contact Sister Sharon Rezmer, BVM at 563-583-9749.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

This group meets on the first Thursday of each month in the Cathedral Center at 1:00 pm. Shawl makers knit or crochet shawls for people who are ill or suffering in any way. Prayer shawls are a labor of love and prayer. When completed they are blessed and presented to the recipient. For more information on prayer shawl ministry please contact Sister Sharon Rezmer, BVM at 563-583-9749.
